Kilcummin State School

Kilcummin State School was established in 1959 with 19 original students. Numbers have increased and decreased over the years but in 2018 it has 35 students. This is a great number as it enables to school to have two classes with small numbers of students in each.

Visitors regularly comment on the well kept grounds and great facilities. Once they spend some time in the school they are impressed with the behaviour of the students and the number of staff here to support pupils in our multi-age classrooms.  

Kilcummin State School strives to provide quality education that assists all students to achieve the best educational outcomes through commitment, co-operation and dedication to becoming a life-long learner.

Recent years have seen an improvement in the writing skills of the students and this year the school is widening its school priorities to include writing, spelling and numeracy. School improvement encompassing curriculum, learning and facilities, is always of the greatest importance.

Kilcummin State School is located in the central Queensland region and supervised by the Mackay office of Education Queensland. The school links closely with Clermont State School, Clermont State High School and Mistake Creek State School. It is part of the Belyando cluster of Priority Country Area Program (PCAP) replaced with the Rural and Remote Education Access Program  (RREAP from 2012) which enables the school to access many opportunities due to its financial support.
