About Us
Our Community Care Unit provides a supported residential environment for people living with mental illness to develop skills for independent living.
The 24-hour, seven-day recovery and rehabilitation service is voluntary and is not intended as permanent accommodation, but as a place consumers can stay while they prepare to live independently in the community.
Our staff provide clinical and peer support rehabilitation services, to create opportunities for residents to develop skills to live independently in the community. These are delivered either through group work or through one-on-one programs based around individual recovery plans.
The groups are based around mindfulness, social interaction, healthy habits, YMCA gym, exercise, brain gym and cooking. Daily support is given for development of livings skills and budgeting.
The staff include a consultant psychiatrist, psychiatric registrar (doctors), team leader, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, a social worker, a consumer consultant, peer support workers, gardener and an administration officer.
Apartments have a kitchen, lounge, bathroom and one bedroom. It is like any other block of apartments, and is located close to town and bus routes.
The Community Care Unit is like any private rental. Costs are based on consumers’ incomes and we make sure that it is affordable. Fees are charged in accordance with the Queensland Health Directive QH-HSD-045:2014 Fees & Charges for Health Care Services.
