About Us

The Polio Clinic WA provides a register of polio survivors resident in WA. The clinic also has a database of relevant information on Post Polio, and disseminates information to post polio survivors and health professionals. The clinic assists with preliminary assessment clinic for referral and treatment of late effects of polio, and participates fundraising activities. The clinic is also involved with local research to aid polio survivors with daily living including alleviating fatigue and pain associated with late effects of polio. Latest WA research reveals children and grandchildren of polio survivors can also suffer fatigue and muscle pain requiring supplementations (carnitine) as shown to have low blood levels.

Activities: Self-help group with in-house free Polio Clinic. Clinical advice on Post-polio symptoms and treatment options from Polio Clinic nurse by phone, email or make an appointment to attend the WA Polio Clinic in Floreat. Good quality nutritional supplements available for purchase. Orders -pick-up or mail-out. Book on History of Polio in WA (B5 - 460 pages) available from Polio Office. Cost $35 or $50 posted.
