Yes, I know what it means: taking that first step, overcoming psychological barriers and deeply held beliefs about yourself, weight training, exercises, and food.
Even so, no matter what you believe you are capable of achieving, with the right strategy and behaviour design, you can change where you are and what you can become. You can break habits that are holding you back from becoming what you really want to be (and wrongly assume that you can’t.)
If you are my age, you’ve noticed your muscle tone dwindling. You also notice that muscle loss is being replaced by body fat. You dislike it. If nothing is done, in a decade or two, function and mobility decline, body fat accumulates, there’s aches and injury risk… you don’t want that.
Resistance exercise can stop and even reverse muscle loss. Strong muscles are more than “good looks” or carrying the bags to the car without collapsing. Muscles are the powerhouse of our bones! Strong muscles protect against bone loss and osteoporosis (which occurs in both men and women).
