Speech pathology service (Speech pathology/therapy)

About Us

KidsRISE was established in January 2011 by Miranda Van Styn and Cara Sheekey. KidsRISE aims to provide families with an alternative to the more traditional therapeutic approaches.

At KidsRISE we take a developmental, play-based approach to provide multi-disciplinary Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy for children with complex developmental needs.

We specialise in the assessment and treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Sensory Processing Disorder and other developmental challenges that impact upon a child’s capacity to reach their potential.

Miranda has been a Speech Pathologist since 1993, when she started working with the Department of Education. She worked with the department until 1999, whilst working part time for two private speech pathologists. During this time she completed her Masters of Educational Studies. Miranda worked as a sole provider from 2005, before setting up with Cara in 2011.

Miranda has done PECS training, and is PROMPT trained.

In 2008, Miranda did the introductory DIR / Floortime course and is now furthering her knowledge of DIR / Floortime through regular mentoring, and participating in various on-line courses and workshops, whenever they’re offered in Australia.
