About Us

Take a step back in time and discover the history of the Mackay region at Greenmount Homestead, one of the area’s most valued historic attractions.

The homestead was developed by Albert Cook on the cattle run first taken up by Captain John Mackay and was gifted to the city by the Cook Family in 1984.

As one of the oldest properties in the region, the Homestead provides a unique insight into the lives of three generations of the Cook family and is the perfect location for a family picnic or a quiet cup of tea on a sunny day.

Greenmount Homestead grounds are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and the last Sunday of the month from 9am to 1pm.

Guided tours commence at 9.30am, 10.30am & 11.30am.
