No Interest Loan Scheme

The No Interest Loan Scheme is an alternative form of credit for households on a low income in Mackay.

Loans can be for new items for the house, health or education but not for payment of bills and other loans or where other forms of financial assistance are available.  

Households are eligible if they: 

• are over 17 years of age

• are on a low income 

• have a stable housing history or are moving into permanent housing 

• have the capacity to repay and have the commitment to repay the loan 

Loans are limited to $2000 and are to be repaid within 24 months. There are no fees or interest charged for these loans.
