Leeton Area

Another of Walter Burley Griffin’s planned towns, Leeton lies in the irrigated heart of the Riverina and is surrounded by rice paddies, vineyards and orchards. Art deco buildings give the town centre a distinctive look, and the Roxy Theatre is a restored gem. The Fivebough and Tuckerbil wetlands just outside town are a haven for migratory birds and are internationally recognised. Locals enjoy birdwatching there at dawn and attending movies in the lovingly restored art deco cinema that screens classic films alongside new releases.

Leeton Council has an approximate area of 1,200 km².

It is within the state electorate of Murray.
