Drug & Alcohol Services

About Us

Your Recovery, Australia-Wide Alcohol and Other Drugs & Mental Wellbeing Peer Support Service

Your Recovery is an Australia-wide online peer support service specialising in alcohol and other drugs (AOD) and mental wellbeing support. The service is delivered through secure telehealth (online video/telephone), so people across Australia can access support without needing to travel or wait for long public-system appointments.

Your Recovery is built entirely on peer-led support meaning people with their own lived experience of addiction and mental health challenges provide guidance, feedback, structure, and practical tools. This approach draws on evidence showing that peer support can reduce feelings of isolation and increase engagement and hope in recovery journeys.

The core aim of Your Recovery is to connect you with compassionate professionals you can relate to who will walk alongside you while you work toward your personal goals, whether that is reduced use, abstinence, improved wellbeing, stronger routines, or developing coping strategies.

Who Your Recovery Supports

Your Recovery is designed for adults across Australia who are seeking peer-centred support for:

• Alcohol and other drug use issues
• Associated mental health challenges
• Creating long-term, sustainable change in wellbeing
• Support that integrates your lived experience into care planning

Your Recovery accepts self-referrals, people can contact or make a booking without needing a professional referral, and operates without geographic restriction, supporting Australians regardless of where they live.

Key Support Activities at Your Recovery

Your Recovery provides structured support through the following:

One-on-one peer mentoring sessions tailored to your recovery goals
• Collaborative planning that respects whether your aim is harm reduction or abstinence
• Online telehealth delivery, accessible from any location with internet or phone access
• Use of an established wellness framework (including emotional, social, physical, occupational and other dimensions) to create a holistic view of wellbeing and recovery goals
• Provision of visual and practical tools such as goal-setting sheets, safety plans and routine-building resources
• Support with communication strategies, emotional regulation skills and building daily habits
• Optional engagement with trusted loved ones where appropriate and with consent

Service Principles and Scope

Your Recovery follows a clearly defined scope of practice that prioritises peer support. It does not provide clinical diagnosis, medical treatment, or prescribe medication. The scope of practice emphasises lived-experience support, collaboration with other health professionals (with your consent), and boundaries that protect both clients and peer mentors.

How Support Works

• Sessions are appointment-based, online, and tailored
• Your Recovery works with you at your pace and around your goals
• Support can be short-term or ongoing, depending on what best fits your recovery plan
• Coordination with other supports (such as clinical services) is offered with consent
• Your Recovery provides free resources and learning material to complement peer sessions

Who Should Consider Your Recovery

Your Recovery is suitable for adults 18 + across Australia who want empathetic, evidence-informed peer support for addiction and mental health wellbeing, and who prefer a lived-experience-centred approach rather than clinical therapy alone. Any individual who feels ready to work on their wellbeing and substance use at a pace that fits their life can engage with Your Recovery. Services are not limited by region, and there are no mandatory residential stays, hospital referrals or geographic catchment restrictions.

What It Does Not Provide

Your Recovery does not replace clinical addiction treatment, medical detoxification services, crisis intervention or mental health diagnoses. If urgent medical or psychological care is required, clients are advised to contact appropriate emergency or specialised health services (for example, 000 in emergencies, local AOD clinical services, or crisis lines). This limitation is part of the defined scope of practice for peer-based support.
