Bega Valley Area
Stretching from rolling green pastures around Bega to the sapphire waters of the Far South Coast, the Bega Valley is a region rich in dairy heritage, national parks and coastal villages. Tathra, Bermagui and Merimbula offer pristine beaches and fresh seafood, while inland the hills are dotted with cheese factories and old timber bridges. Between June and November humpback whales migrate along the coast and can often be seen from headlands. Locals swim at the deep blue ocean pool carved into the rocks at Bermagui and wander through a wildlife sanctuary near Potoroo Palace where rescued animals roam in bushland settings.
Bega Valley Council has an approximate area of 6,300 km².
