The state electorate of Pilbara has an approximate area of 406,000 km².

It is comprised of the suburbs of Baynton, Bulgarra, Burrup, Dampier, Finucane, Gnoorea, Karratha, Karratha Industrial Estate, Millars Well, Mulataga, Nickol, Pegs Creek, Port Hedland, Redbank, South Hedland, Stove Hill, Wedgefield, Whim Creek and Wickham plus parts of Antonymyre, Cleaverville, Cossack and Gap Ridge.

It is comprised of the localities of Boodarie, Cooya Pooya, De Grey, Gibson Desert North, Indee, Maitland, Marble Bar, Mardie, Mundabullangana, Newman, Nullagine, Pardoo, Pippingarra, Roebourne, Sherlock, Strelley, Telfer and Wallareenya plus parts of Balla Balla, Mount Anketell and Point Samson.

It is comprised of parts of the councils of East Pilbara, Karratha and Port Hedland.

It is surrounded by the state electorates of Kalgoorlie, Kimberley and North West Central.

It is within the federal electorate of Durack.
