The state electorate of Cootamundra has an approximate area of 35,000 km².

It is comprised of the suburbs of Bendick Murrell, Billimari, Brobenah, Bulla Creek, Burrangong, Cooneys Creek, Darbalara, Darbys Falls, Gundagai, Harden, Jugiong, Junee, Kingsvale, Maimuru, Marinna, Murrumburrah, Nubba, Pucawan, Reno, Tara, Wantiool, Wattamondara, Weedallion, Wirrimah and Wombat plus parts of 4 suburbs including Brucedale, Colo, Corbie Hill and Lyndhurst.

It is comprised of 98 localities including Adjungbilly, Alleena, Ardlethan, Ariah Park, Back Creek, Barellan, Barmedman, Barwang, Beckom, Bectric, Beggan Beggan, Berremangra, Berry Jerry, Berthong, Bethungra, Bimbi, Bland, Bribbaree, Bumbaldry, Burra Creek, Caragabal, Colinroobie, Combaning, Coolac and Coolamon plus parts of another 21 localities.

It is comprised of the councils of Bland, Coolamon, Cowra, Gundagai, Junee, Narrandera, Temora and Weddin plus parts of Hilltops.

It is surrounded by the state electorates of Albury, Barwon, Bathurst, Goulburn, Murray, Orange and Wagga Wagga.

It is comprised of parts of the federal electorates of Farrer and Riverina.
